Rituparna Ray Chaudhuri is a teacher of English Literature, and is acclaimed for her academic research. She is also an author, a Google Scholar, essayist and literary critic, her work having been published by many internationally acclaimed websites. Her book Realization (Documents Based on Self-Scholarly Effects with Google Scholar Citations.) consists of her research articles and analysis of the selected works of William Shakespeare, Rabindranath Tagore, and John Keats.

I chat with her about her book Realization, the theme of the book, what inspired her to write this book, and much more.

If you could only describe your book Realization (Documents Based on Self-Scholarly Effects with Google Scholar Citations.) in one sentence, what would it be?

The book can be described as – ‘Complete self-thoughts on Academic analysis and Research, comparing British Literature with Indian Literature’.

Now tell us a little more about the book! What can readers expect?

The book uses the narrative technique and critical illustrations to describe the author’s thoughts on different constituents of Literature. It expresses her personal beliefs and disbeliefs on human characters and their respective thoughts prevalent in the society.

The book consists of self-analysis of British Literature, and it has been reviewed internationally. A review by Kirkus Indie Review says this about the book – ‘A collection of essays that focuses on venerable literary works.’

What inspired you to write this book?

I was inspired to write this book while teaching Shakespearian Literature and Indian Literature, and comparing these two literatures. While reading poems like ‘Ode to the West Wind’, ‘Ode to a Nightingale’ and so on, I thought about writing my self-analysis on some chosen literary pieces. This inspired me.

Google Scholar works on my self-perception of “Hamlet” and “Othello” by William Shakespeare, and “Ode to a Nightingale” by John Keats have been included in the book. The citation formats of the scholarly articles are in MLA, APA, Chicago, Harvard and Vancouver format.

Please tell us about the core message of this book.

The core of the book contains this message – “It is not by what he does that he appeals to us, but by what he sees and feels.”

Did you face any difficulties while writing this book or in conducting research for this book? If so, how did you overcome them?

While writing and researching this book, simultaneously going through the details of the book’s setting and doing its analysis was challenging for me. I overcame it by concentrating more on – ‘why this line has been mentioned in the book’ rather than ‘what lines have been mentioned in the book’.

What is the message that you want readers to take away from this book?

I believe in these three words – Aspire, Aspired and Aspiration. I am an aspiring author. I would like to give readers the message that they should strive hard to fulfil their aspirations.

Lastly, what are you working on next?

The theme of my next literary project has not been decided yet. I want to continue my work as an Educator and a freelance author.
